Over the course of his career, Matt has presented a variety of sports live including three Cricket World Cups, two T20 World Cups, World Championship Boxing, International Rugby Union, La Liga Football and four seasons of the Indian Premier League. Since becoming non-permanent staff at Sky, Matt continues to present for Sky Sports News as well as Premier League Productions and Sony Pictures Network in Mumbai. Start at Sky Sports Cricket

Having joined Sky as a runner in 2004, Matt worked his way up to presenter and having got his big break, became a fixture of Sky’s award-winning cricket coverage. Aside from World Cups and IPL seasons, he hosted the Test Match Verdict show, England T20 Internationals and numerous county cricket outside broadcasts. He loves the magazine show format as well and spent five highly enjoyable summers presenting Cricket AM alongside Sarah-Jane Mee.

COMMENTATING, FOOTBALL AND NEWS

Matt presented live football matches for the first time in 2014 and went on to do three seasons of La Liga for Sky. During this time he was the only presenter at Sky Sports doing both live cricket and football. Since then he has secured a regular spot hosting the popular Premier League Today and Fan Zone shows to a global audence for Premier League Television.

Since his move into the freelance world in 2018 Matt has spent a lot of time in Mumbai working for Sony Pictures Network and Ten Sports. This gave him the opportunity to host his 5th major cricket tournament and he was lucky enough to be in the chair in the summer of 2019 when England lifted the World Cup for the first time! After that he fulfilled a long term ambition of presenting and commentating on Indian international cricket for Indian television with India’s tours of Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe and Bangladesh in 2021 & 2022. Other presenter/commentator roles around this time included the Lanka Premier League and the Super 50 for Whisper TV, as well as the Road Safety World Series in India, where Matt had the pleasure of interviewing Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara on a few occasions. The 2022 Asia Cup was also his 2nd major tournament for Ten Sports.

A huge UFC fan, he was delighted to also host Sony’s Ultimate Guide to the UFC as well other shows such as Merchants of Speed.

Personal

Having an Indian mother and an English father, Matt was always going to be a cricket fan and luckily isn’t too bad a player himself – he got a ‘Blue’ for representing Oxford University in the Varsity Match, scoring an unbeaten century to help guide his team to victory. He’s equally as passionate about football and is regularly to be found at Emirates Stadium cheering and getting frustrated in equal measure as he watches his beloved Arsenal. Away from sport he doesn’t like his life to be too quiet and loves to travel when he can. He’s extremely proud of his Indian heritage (his mother is from a town in south Tamil Nadu called Nagercoil) and despite having visited the country numerous times, he still feels like there is a lot more to discover…and there is!

Having initially sworn he would never sit an exam again after Oxford, he took the Advanced Diploma in Sports Journalism in 2017/18, which he passed with a merit, achieving the Level 5 Certificate in Professional Sports Journalism.
